It is important to decide what you want before you just start building a channel. What is it about creating a YouTube channel that is interesting to you? What will keep you coming back?

There are a lot of different reasons that people start on YouTube, and they are all worthwhile.  It is important to understand what brought you here in order to make choices that will get you to where you want to go!
Money 
A lot of people are creating videos to make money on YouTube, and it is easy to see why.  Some of the most successful YouTubers have become rich thanks to their videos.
There are even many ‘mid-level’ YouTubers that you haven’t necessarily heard of that are making a very good living from YouTube.  You don’t have to be the next PewDiePie to make this dream come true.
Fame
For some people, becoming a YouTuber isn’t about the money – they just want the spotlight.

And that is totally cool!
YouTube is a great way to find your audience, no matter what the size.

This is an important step that a lot of people forget.  It is tough to find an audience if your audience doesn’t know what to make of you when they find you.

Customize your thumbnails
When you upload a video, YouTube will typically generate a set of default thumbnails. Sure, you could use one of those. However, creating a custom thumbnail is a great way to make your video stand out on a search engine results page. Improve your click-throughrate by presenting a more polished look, using vibrant imagery, and including key information.

Optimize for all platforms
More than half of your views will likely come from mobile devices. Keep that in mind when creating your thumbnail. Remember that the image will appear much smaller on a smartphone than on a desktop. Try to use only a few concise words in the thumbnail, and check that it looks good on all devices and external sites that embed YouTube videos.

Keep titles concise
A well-written title could mean the difference between someone watching and sharing your content, or disregarding it entirely. Find your tone

Try using the word “you” at least once during your introduction. A new study has revealed that videos that say “you” in the first five seconds score approximately 66% more views than videos that do not.

Try adding music
Like tone, there are many different ways that you could use music to improve your video intro.  Music can help to shape your audience's emotions, add energy, and convey a unique message.

What do they have in common?
Each tapped into a niche communitythat is rarely satisfied by traditional media. When viewers finally find a channel that caters to their unique interests, they respond with enthusiasm. That means more views, engagement and watch time for you.
